FRESH JACOBS

Artist of Record. Culture + Collective Strategist.

Raised in the Bronx—the birthplace of Hip Hop—Fresh Jacobs began writing poetry at the age of six, channeling early inspiration from artists like Prince, Jay-Z, Sade, and Beyoncé. That spark evolved into a lifelong pursuit of sound, narrative, and cultural meaning. Since 1997, Fresh has built a foundation in Hip Hop through mixtapes, battles, showcases, and tours, culminating in a career-defining moment: a showcase at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network featuring Michael Jackson, which caught the attention of Def Jam Recordings.

Following early label experiences, Fresh chose independence over convention. While earning a B.A. in Business Administration, he launched BLK Genius Media NYC, a creative agency that manages the full process of making and releasing records while offering advocacy and strategic support for artists.

DISCOGRAPHY & IMPACT

In 2008, Fresh released the acclaimed Cooley High Sessions mixtape, followed by his first retail single, “Rose Mimosas.” Over the next decade, his catalog expanded into a rich archive of music and meaning: The New Black EP (2013) explored the shifting landscape of Hip Hop identity and the evolving concept of success in today’s music business. Her (2015), a conceptual album and love letter to Black women, arrived alongside a bold visual campaign and debuted at #92 on streaming charts; and Dior Homie (2019), a genre-blending classic, elevated his position as a strategist and cultural voice—examining themes from toxic masculinity on “Dry Clean Only”, to couture expression on “Prince Michael”.

Beyond recording, Fresh continues to explore the conversation between sound, fashion, film photography, and literature— shaping a personal canon of cultural influence. His creative practice now extends into advocacy and philanthropy, using voice and vision to foster connection and long-term cultural impact.
